Event Description: “Join us for another Free Target First Saturday! This month, the Brooklyn Museum celebrates 'From Ancient Egypt to the Afrofuture' - Ph.D. candidate Makeba Lavan (Graduate Center, CUNY) introduces the aesthetic and imaginative strategies of Afrofuturism, using our 2013 exhibition Wangechi Mutu: A Fantastic Journey to examine the speculative fiction of Octavia Butler and the music of George Clinton, Janelle Monae, and Erykah Badu, among others; Everyday People, New York City’s daytime dance party phenomenon, takes the stage with a set by DJ mOma and a performance by Jade de LaFleur, and more ...”Read more: Brooklyn Museum-Tumblr, Brooklyn Museum-Facebook and Brooklyn Museum-First Saturdays
