Event Description: “Lyle O. Reitzel Gallery is pleased to present 'Pacific/Caribe 2016 – 2017,' a solo exhibition of new and recent works by l’enfant terrible of Contemporary Dominican Art, Raúl Recio, whose work has been included in Vitamin P3 (a publication of the world’s hottest painters, selected by international expert). About the Artist: “Dominican artist Raúl Recio is a writer-turned-visual-artist. Inspired by the travels of the famous botanist Erik Ekman, Recio relocated to the island of La Hispaniola, built a house, and began painting in an attempt to unearth nature's mysteries. Energy vibrates throughout Recio's works, which are influenced by his tropical environment. For his most recent paintings, the artist used glowing colors, such as vibrant greens and electric blues, to create fantastical, abstract-impressionistic landscapes. About the Venue: “Since 1995, Lyle O. Reitzel Gallery opens its doors in Santo Domingo and focuses its efforts in supporting the new artistic tendencies of the Dominican Republic, Latin America and the Caribbean. For the 2006-2010 period, it establishes itself at Wynwood Art District, Miami. For nearly two decades, being Santo Domingo its main platform, and faithful to its aesthetic proposal supporting the new, strange and extravagant, it has organised a series of exhibitions in galleries and museums in the great capitals of the world, while also taking part in several prestigious international art fairs like, ARCO 1997, Madrid, where the gallery was invited and its participation was curated by Octavio Zayas. It has also been part of ArteBa, Buenos Aires, Zona MACO, Mexico, CONTEXT Art Miami during Art Basel, and has been invited twice to VOLTA NY during the Armory Show, featuring a Solo Show by artist Gerard Ellis, as well as PULSE Miami, SCOPE Miami/New York, MiART, Milan, here the gallery featured two solo shows, by García Cordero and Bedia respectively.
