Event Description: “For its 24th edition, 'Subtropics XXIV Summer Festival' will feature live performances by Olivia Block, Abbey Rader, John Driscoll, Jack Wright, Richard Garet, Barbara Held and AMEE members, Miguel Álvarez-Fernández and Victor Aguado Machuca. Schedule: Opening: JULY 5, 2017; Performances, Films, Panels: JULY 6-22, 2017; Exhibitions: JULY 6-SEPTEMBER 3, 2017. Subtropics will also feature a sound art exhibition titled LISTEN by artistic director, Gustavo Matamoros featuring installations from the SFCA [isaw+subtropics]’s archive—originally developed and adapted for the Listening Gallery; an installation by Alba Triana and the classic Subtropics Marathon. The festival will also offer workshops and seminars about experimental music, free musics and sound art with authors Jennie Gottschalk, Jack Wright and Christoph Cox.
