Event Description: “Participating NE8 artist Steffon Grant’s work 'The Canvas is My Pulpit' explores the idea of understanding and appreciating a product through the process of creation - from sketching to selecting the wood and paint types to the final presentation. The intricacies of this process are often overlooked and is rarely a factor when evaluating the finished piece. Grant invites you to participate in his process through a workshop, tour and short discussion on Saturday, March 18. About the Artist: “A Grand Bahama native, Steffon Grant lives and works in his hometown and is the sole proprietor of the small art business, Conception Ink. He attended the College of The Bahamas where he initially enrolled in the Mathematics programme but later switched to Art Education. After obtaining a BA in Art Education, Grant worked with The Bahamas Ministry of Education as a high school teacher for two years before leaving the classroom to mobilize his start-up business, which until then had been a part-time passion. He continues to work with children in Grand Bahama through his afterschool art programme, Club INK. Grant regularly utilizes his mathematical skills in his work and is inspired by artists Leonardo da Vinci, Jackson Burnside and Frank Stella.
