Friday, February 24, 2017 - "Dress for Culture Day" — Now in its 5th year, Dress for Culture Day is a celebration of Cayman's diverse community which is comprised of more than 135 nationalities! This annual 'dress up, dress down' fundraiser invites individuals, students and corporate entities to display love for culture by wearing traditional cultural wear, sportswear, country colours or anything that represents your culture(s). Together, we plait a visual tapestry of beauty and harmony by sharing and learning from each other, while supporting cultural heritage programmes like the CI Folk Singers and Summer Arts Camp. The cost to take part is only $5 for adults and $3 for students. Each participant is invited to take part in a Facebook competition also. Saturday, February 25, 2017 - "Red Sky at Night" — Red Sky at Night is one of the anchor events as part of Cayfest, The Cayman Islands National Festival of the Arts. Dance, music, drama, visual arts, crafts, film and culinary delights come together for one night on the Harquail Culural Centre Grounds in George Town from 4pm - Midnight. Proceeds from the event support CNCF Programming. The event described by festival goers is “enchanting”. Visitors are treated to live performances from dancers, actors and storytellers as well as creative work by local visual artists and crafts people. Celebrated films from around the Caribbean and inspiring performances will be featured within the festival theatres. The senses are stimulated by the sounds of the steel pan, fiddle and drums while the aroma of mouthwatering local culinary delicacies surround you.
