About the Author: “Naomi Jackson’s presentation is titled, 'Look me Crosses: Writing Caribbean Women’s Lives' and is scheduled for Friday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Lecture Theatre One of the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus. Born to a Barbadian mother and an Antiguan father in New York, Jackson is the author of 'The Star Side of Bird Hill,' which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award, longlisted for the National Book Critics Circle’s John Leonard Prize and the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. She studied fiction at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and traveled to South Africa on a Fulbright scholarship, where she received an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town. A graduate of Williams College, her work has appeared in literary journals and magazines in the United States and abroad. A recent graduate of the MFA in Studio Art at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Sheena Rose’s work includes hand-drawn animations, performance art and paintings.
