Event Description: “For those of you who missed the artist talk for our current Double Dutch: The Colour and The Shape, featuring the works of Kendra Frorup and Gabriel Ramos, you're in luck. The show is on view through September 18th. Be sure to come on by to check it out ... The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) will host 'The Colour and the Shape' exhibition from July 28, 2016–September 18, 2016. Double Dutch brings together artists from the region and diaspora to produce provocative bodies of work through collaboration and exchange. The project works against ideas of nationalism and the insularity of our creative environs by creating an experimental hub to explore regional and diasporic culture, our creative acumen and sensibilities. 'The Colour and the Shape' will investigate the correlations between Bahamian artist Kendra Frorup and US-based, Puerto Rican artist Gabriel Ramos’ understanding and representation of cultural identity and its connection to childhood and growing up in the tropics.”Read more: NAGB's The Colour and the Shape-Event Page and The NAGB-Facebook
About NAGB: “Housed in the historic Villa Doyle, built in the 1860s and lovingly restored in the 1990s, the NAGB preserves the National Collection of Bahamian Art, part of which is on permanent display on the ground floor. Upper galleries engage the history of Bahamian Art and Visual culture and support contemporary movements and experimental contemporary art practice through temporary exhibitions. The NAGB also has an extensive public program schedule, community and regional projects and partnerships, arts education workshops, and a free public art library.”Read more: The NAGB-About
