About the Event: “This is the 32nd Annual ROTR, which is so iconic that fans and patrons lovingly refer to it as simply 'Reggae.' It is indeed known and revered worldwide for the unparalled combination of great music, great vibes, and great venue. Part of what makes ROTR unique is that it operates as a non-profit, and in turn utilizes strictly non-profit entities to provide all food and drink, thereby funding hundreds of local organizations and schools. What started way back in the day as an effort to raise funds to rebuild the burned down Mateel Community Center has become an annual event upon which most of the local schools, volunteer fire departments, and various art and social organizations depend. For many 'Reggae' is an important annual event, where people gather from far and wide to celebrate music and unity, enjoying good food, good drink and good vibes. More then that, for many this event is a family reunion, a place and a time to meet others from throughout our local and worldwide community. ROTR is known for the incredible lineups. Headlining this year is Jamaican Dancehall Star Sizzla Kalonji. It’s been almost a decade since Sizzla has played anywhere in the United States, so his appearance this year at Reggae is a big breakthrough that has many fans very excited. There are many top musical stars in this year’s lineup, and, true to form, a good number of acts making their debut here as well. Anthony B, Protoje, Mad Professor, Big Youth, U-Roy, King Yellowman, Fatoumata Diawara, Jesse Royal, Sister Carol, Ziggi Recado, Sister Carol, Jah9, House of Shem, No Maddz and Keznamdi will all be playing full sets, in additon to some 20 other acts and a full schedule of DJs and special guests. Almost everyone stays at French’s Camp the entire weekend, creating community on the banks of the Eel River. Patrons spend the weekend fulljoying the sun, the beautiful river, and each other, all to the constant beat of sweet reggae music. Throughout the years much has changed about this event, for instance now there is premier camping options, an Ambassador Program that provides special access and perks for those willing to pay for it and a late-night dancehall on the river with a full service bar ...”Read more: Ukiah Daily Journal-Reggae On The River Article, Reggae On The River 2016-Facebook and Reggae On The River 2016
