Event Description: “Medulla Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to 'Breaking Blue' - Impressions on Depression from the Art Therapy Room; an interactive exhibition presented by The Art Therapy Association of Trinidad & Tobago. Opening Reception on Saturday, July 9, 2016 @ 6:00pm-9:00pm; show continues through Saturday, July 23, 2016. The exhibition 'Breaking Blue' explores mental health through the eyes of both the client and the art therapist. This art exhibition will feature the work of clients who have been affected by depression and co morbid disorders, and have engaged in the process of art therapy. The exhibition will provide participants with the opportunity to tell their stories through art in an effort to help viewers gain insight into what it’s like to live with these mental health challenges. The art therapists will also create response art to clients’ art work to help provide understanding as to what the art therapy process looks and feels like and the effect of the client’s challenges on the therapist. About the Gallery: “Medulla Art Gallery has been established to carry on and develop the traditions of Aquarela Galleries. Medulla, as the name implies, will provide a core space for art education with public participation through exhibitions, forums and workshops. Geoffrey MacLean, Martin Mouttet and Isabel Brash hope to use Medulla to demonstrate art, not only as a social expression, but also as a medium for therapy and growth.
