Event Description: “'Migrating Histories' is a project conceived by Monica Marin and Carla Acevedo-Yates. The first phase of the project, which coincides with US Independence Day celebrations as well as USVI Emancipation Day, will consist of a weeklong artist-in-residency that will include informal conversations and a public program at the Caribbean Museum Center in Frederiksted on July 4rth, 2016 from 12pm-3pm. During this initial phase, our goal is to familiarize ourselves with each other’s work and start a conversation around some of the ideas we have been thinking about in the hopes of a future collaboration/performance festival (pending funding). To this end, we have invited artists Awilda Sterling-Duprey, Awilda Rodríguez Lora, Oceana James and Paloma McGregor. The second phase of the project will culminate in the VI-PR celebration and will include a performance arts festival.”Read more: Migrating Histories Artist Talk-Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/cmcavi and http://cmcarts.org/
