Event Description: “WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF BELIZEAN CHOCOLATE! Celebrating Belizean Chocolate and Toledo Culture. Cacao is native to the Americas, and the Toledo District of southern Belize is recognized for its superior cacao. These cacao beans are a significant export crop and, within country, are transformed into distinctive and high quality chocolate. Every Commonwealth Day Holiday Weekend (late May) we celebrate this marvellous food, and many devoted followers return to Toledo each year to find out what's new in the world of chocolate making. This will be the tenth year the Festival will be growing awareness of Belizean chocolate, and continue to capture a wider international audience. Join us for a three-day celebration of Belizean chocolate and the cacao-driven culture of the Toledo District.”Read more: Chocolate Festival of Belize 2016 and Chocolate Festival of Belize 2016-Facebook
About the Chocolate Festival of Belize: “he Chocolate Festival of Belize started life in 2007 as the Toledo Cacao Festival. The idea was first mentioned in passing at the end of a local tourism meeting, and taken forward by Darla Mallory from Coral House Inn. Darla's vision resulted in the formation of an organizing committee of BTIA members, TCGA members and enthusiastic volunteers from the local community and the rest, as they say, is history! The Festival is designed to raise awareness of the Toledo District as a responsible tourism destination, and to extend the tourist season. It helps improve the lives of many families, whether through direct employment in the tourism industry, or through the 'ripple effect' spreading money throughout the District.”Read more: Chocolate Festival of Belize 2016 and Chocolate Festival of Belize 2016-Facebook
