About the Artist: "Since graduating from the College for Creative Studies Fine Arts program in 2002, Taurus Burns has firmly established himself as one of Metro Detroit’s favorite artists. Taurus is featured in the recently published “100 Artists of the Midwest” (Schiffer Books). In 2010 RealDetroit Weekly listed Taurus as the "Best Local Artist", and HOUR Detroit Magazine's 2007 Best of Detroit issue listed him as one of the "Best Local Artists to Collect". Aside from his countless gallery exhibitions, Taurus has been involved in several public art projects, including Tiger Town- a county-wide exhibit of painted tigers, the 2008 and 2009 Detroit Festival of the Arts "Street Painting" Exhibitions, and at the 2012 Ann Arbor Street Fair Taurus created an inspiring 9’x16’ street painting of John Singleton Copley’s “Watson and the Shark”, one of the countless treasures at the Detroit Institute of Arts. He has completed numerous private and public commissioned paintings, including a large mural at Caruso Caruso in Birmingham in 2006, a painting representing Detroit in the 2008 Verizon Wireless “How Sweet the Sound” Competition, and in 2012 assisted in the painting of a captivating mural about humane education for the Detroit Zoo’s Humane Science Lab. Also in 2012, a children’s book illustrated by Taurus Burns was published, “The Riddle of the Hollow Reed” by Charlotte J. Harman (Baha’i Publishing Trust)."
