German-born sculptor Luise Kimme will showcase her work at the Y Gallery in Woodbrook on Monday beginning at 7 pm. Based in Bethel, Tobago, Kimme has been living in T&T for 27 years. In a release, an ailing Kimme, who has been a sculptor since 1963, said she is looking forward to the exhibition because the drawings and the original wooden sculptures of her work spanned a period of 15 years. Some of her work is designed of large bronze. She said:
“The bronzes came from the bronze caster Schmaeke in Duesseldorf, Germany, where I did work on most of the waxes of the heads, making features finer and more distinct.” -- Luise Kimme
Her sculpture museum called, The Castle, overlooks the Mt Irvine Golf Course with view of the Caribbean Sea. She also said her unique Caribbean sculptures are created from whole tree trunks. Recently she has created small bronzes and ceramic sculptures. Source: http://www.guardian.co.tt/entertainment/2013-03-09/kimme-exhibit-work-y-gallery.
